642 Things To Write About: Write Facebook status updates for the year 2017
I don’t really post a lot of Facebook statues. Short of graduating university and getting accepted for my exchange I can’t really think of that many things worth posting. My thoughts aren’t that great and I don’t want to be that person who shares every little thing. I do post a lot of pictures — I kind of enjoy photography as my posts of late may have indicated — on Facebook and I think that gives people a better frame of reference for my life.
I doubt the world will be much different in 2017. That’s just three years away. I think there will be a two new versions of the iPhone in slightly different colours and dimensions than the current ones. I hope that mine will still be going strong then so hopefully I won’t be posting anything about my new rad technology purchase. Canada will have had an exciting general election and hopefully will have a new prime minister. Maybe Milos Raonic will win a major (I was watching tennis yesterday). If he does I might tweet about it but I will not be posting any Facebook statuses.
1. A cautionary tale
An old friend of mine — for some reason we are no longer friends on Facebook — very publicly broke up with her boyfriend for two months on Facebook. Every terrible and awkward fight they had was posted for all to see. Every perceived slight and negligent moment was shared and liked — yes some people did like these statues making me question the whole humanity thing. It was too much. Way too much. Nobody needs to know all of the melodramatic details of your life, not even your journal. Facebook is about crafting a light and fluffy image of yourself. Only the good or special goes up.
2. A joke
A friend of my sister’s told her this joke a while back.
