On the other side of the river
Uzupis is a neighbourhood in Vilnius, Lithuania. It declared itself an independent republic and has drawn comparisons to Christiania — though I found it a lot less uppity and druggy. It has its own constitution which includes “A cat is not obliged to love its owner, but must help in time of need”, “Everyone has the right to be happy” and “Everyone has the right to be unhappy”. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
